Sunday School Classes

Cup And Saucer : Sr. Adults
Room AYC-17 at 9:45 a.m.
This class was organized over 60 years
ago. It now consists of about 70 mostly
retired but quite active seniors. The
Cokesbury curriculum is taught by class
members. The warmth and concern for
one another found in this class provides
the atmosphere of a close family group. We
enjoy many social activities together. As a
class, we fund several mission projects
and many of our members volunteer in our
church and community, including our local
hospitals.
Genesis : 30's-50's But open to all ages
Church Parlor-Friendship Hall at 10:00
The Genesis class received its’ name
because the original members decided to
study the Bible by reading the books of the
Bible in order. We have completed the Old
Testament and have begun the New
Testament. We focus on the messages in
each passage and how to apply that message
to our daily lives.
Homebuilders : Ages 50+
Room AYC-4 at 10:00 a.m.
The Homebuilders class is a group of
extremely warm and friendly people who
like to get together to study, learn, play
and worship. Our lessons cover material
ranging from Bible study to contemporary
social topics. As an important contributor
to the elbow grease that is expended
throughout the church, the class is an
invaluable asset to every aspect of FUMCD.
New Horizons : Ages 55+
Room AYC-18 at 10:00 a.m.
Our class offers fellowship to class members
through a continuing study of the
Bible. Activities include monthly socials with several service projects carried out
each year, including the support of a missionary
family. Come and visit and enjoy.
Nova : Ages 50-60
Room AYC-1 at 10:00 a.m.
The NOVA class is comprised of adults who
enjoy discussing topics and people of the
Bible, along with contemporary issues
affecting our lives today. We support the
various ministries and missions of the
church with work and donations. The class
plans monthly socials and outings.
Pathfinders : Mid 20's-40
Wesley children’s building, upstairs in
Room W-29 at 10:00 a.m..
This class is composed of very active,
involved young adults, singles and married
couples. The Pathfinders study social
issues and topics interesting to their age.
The class raised more than $6,000 by sponsoring
an all-church garage sale.
Class members assist with the annual Fall
Festival and Pumpkin Party, as well as
assuming many other leadership roles in
the church.
Progressors : Ages 40's - 60+
Room AYC-13 at 10:00 a.m.
This class is composed of both couples and
singles. The lessons are always lively and
in a discussion format. Members are
actively involved in all aspects of church
leadership. One of our ongoing missions is
the Myrna Hoke Garden Fund, which provides
perpetual care for the Memorial
Garden on our church campus. We welcome
and embrace visitors and new church
members as family.
Seekers : Ages 40's+
Room AYC-2 at 10:00 a.m.
Do you remember the Beatles, the Apollo
moon landing, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and
disco? If you do, you must be a Baby
Boomer! Come join other fun-loving
Boomers in the Seekers class. We use a variety
of curriculum to help apply biblical
principles to everyday life situations. We
love having visitors and making new members
into family.
Serendipity : Ages 40+
Snack Bar in the Alexander Youth Center at
10:00 a.m.
This class is made up of both singles and
couples. We concentrate our studies on a
wide variety of spiritually-based curriculum,
challenging ourselves to Christian discipleship
in all areas of our lives. Teachers
from within the class present the weekly
lessons.
United : Ages 60+
Room AYC-16 9:45 a.m.
In the fall of 1981, 2 classes combined,
forming a class that consisted of many leaders
and long-time members of our church.
The Cokesbury Adult Bible Study curriculum
is taught by our ministerial staff and
other gifted teachers. Visitors are always
welcome in class and to our many socials,
where you will see the warmth that comes
from the very soul of this class.
