Children Ministry

FUMCD feels that it is necessary for the church to be involved in the lives of the children and for the children to be involved in the life of the church. Through involvement, our children can grow in their faith. 

 

Our goal is to provide a place for children to learn and commune throughout their childhood that will lead to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a further understanding of their Christianity. To reach this goal we offer many different opportunities to guide the spiritual development of the children entrusted to our care and nurture.

Sunday School

 

Sunday School Class Descriptions Are Coming Soon
Graded classes are provided for children beginning at age two and continuing through high school. Groupings are based on September 1 of the current year or on placement in school. For children with special educational needs, please contact the church office. We will be glad to adjust our programs to facilitate learning for all children. Childcare is provided for infants during the Sunday School hour. All classes for children are located in the Wesley Building and Asbury Building.
Confirmation

 

Confirmation is a significant faith journey. It is a time to assist young people as they explore what it means to participate in a relationship with God, what it means to be a Christian, and what it means to be a member of the United Methodist Church. On this journey, faith experiences will help shape youth into loyal and steadfast disciples. This journey begins for many in infancy, at baptism. It continues as parents, family members, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, pastors, and other members of the congregation work to help youth learn and grow.
Childcare & Nursery

 

A nursery is located in the lower level of the is provided for most church activities. Beepers are issued to parents leaving infants and they will be notified if there is a problem with their child through the beepers. The nursery cares for birth to 2 years old during Sunday School and birth to 3 years old during Worship.
