Spiritual Gifts

Spiritual gifts are special abilities, or divine enablements, given to us to make our unique contribution. Spiritual gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit of God, to every faithful follower according to God's purpose and grace. Spiritual Gifts are for building up the body of Christ or the church's ministry in the world. These gifts as given for the short and long term in order that we may glorify God by serving better in the Church's ministry. The purpose of all gifts is the up building of the ministry.

There is great diversity in the types of gifts and this diversity is by God's design.

"To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues." __I Corinthians 12:8-10

Spiritual Gifts, as identified in the Bible are: Administration, Apostleship, Craftsmanship, Creative Communication, Discernment, Encouragement, Evangelism, Faith, Giving, Healing, Helps, Hospitality, Intercession, Interpretation, Knowledge, Leadership, Mercy, Miracles, Prophecy, Shepherding, Teaching, Tongues, Wisdom.

Unity is not in being alike nor thinking alike. Unity is in having the same purpose: to glorify God, edify others and build up the ministry in Jesus' name.
